DIY Zero Waste Dishwasher Detergent

DIY zero waste dishwasher

Today’s post is coming to you with my most recent DIY on my low waste journey. I am slowly replacing all the cleaning products in my home as I run out of them. I had been on the search for a new recipe for Dishwasher detergent that was clean, safe, and low waste friendly. I had seen this from Eco Boost on Youtube + wanted to give it a try! I have linked all the items you will need below. Click on each ingredient to be taken to Amazon to purchase at your convenience.

Ingredients needed :

4 cups of Washing Soda

1 cup of Sea Salt

1 cup of Citric Acid

1 glass jar

1 metal or wood scoop

Process :

  • Measure out ingredients into a metal or wood bowl.
  • Mix together to combine
  • Transfer to your glass container
  • That’s it!

How to use :

I use two scoops ( approximately 1 Tablespoon) of powder in my dishwasher. I add a little bit of vinegar to the liquid section of the dishwasher as a rinse/wash aid. I have loved how it is working for me!

I also ran the math on how much this costs per load. .08 cents a load! That’s pretty stinking awesome if you ask me. For more recipes , DIY, and to join the party – come over to Instagram! @kelly.ann.carpenter
